This LEVEL III instrumental is a study of the Hambone groove very often associated with many songs by Bo Diddley and early Rock & Roll. It’s an Afro-Cuban clave rhythm. Most often you will hear this groove faster and used over a continuous I chord like the song “Bo Diddley.” The song “Willie And The Hand Jive” is an example of it, used with 3 chords, but not the standard 12 bar form. This piece is unusual in that it follows the 12-bar form, only straying for the long V. It is also an easier version of the study song “The Ham-Bo.”
